Hole-Punching
Introduction
In this section, you are given a square piece of paper which is then folded into one, two, or three times. The paper is then holepunched with one or more holes at specific locations on the folded paper. You are then asked to unfold the paper mentally in order to determine the final locations of the holes on the original square piece of paper. Here is an example of a hole-punching question that you may encounter on the DAT & ATDH:
Every holepunching question will have both broken and solid lines, as shown in the image above. The solid lines within the paper indicate the location of the folds. The broken lines indicate the original position of the paper before it was folded.
Rules
- The paper never folds across the edges of the original square
- The paper is never turned or twisted at any point
- There is only one correct answer for each question
